Tuxpaint, an Open Source drawing software!

From Tuxpaint site:
Tux Paint is a free, award-wining drawing program for children ages 3 to 12 (for example, preschool and K-6 in the US, key stages 1 & 2 in the UK). It combines an easy-to-use interface, fun sound effects, and an encouraging cartoon mascot who guides children as they use the program.
Tux Paint runs on a variety of platforms, including all versions of Windows (including Tablet PC), Mac OS X 10.3 and up, Linux, FreeBSD and NetBSD. It works well on older, slower systems, as well as thin-clients such as LTSP, Citrix® and Windows Terminal Services. It even runs on some handheld computers!

Educational Software.

How should Educational Software be created? What are are the factors and the principles that should be taken into consideration, when a parent or a teacher uses software in the learning procedure?
As a father of 4 children, a teacher (for 17 years, 3 in special education) and one of the creators of "Little Artists in action" and "I learn to walk in the streets with safety" I will try to give answers and start a conversation on these matters!
